Yesterday, one of the PE teachers in our building started sending out daily video workouts for staff, and a 25 day health challenge.
Several others have been creating tutorial videos for distance learning software, teaching us all how to best serve our students who need captions on videos.
Another teacher reached out to me as a member of our social committee about finding a way to boost morale in these uncertain times.
Today, I video-chatted with a group of teachers to practice using Zoom before I test it out with students. We showed each other our pets, and laughed about how many students (or how few) have been doing our work online.
I've even been getting my butt kicked in online scrabble by some of my colleagues! (You know who you are- how do you do it? Seriously, 70 point words? Superhuman!)
Even as I blog, I know at least 4 others in my building are doing the same.
So today, even while social distancing, I'm thankful that my colleagues don't feel very distant at all. In fact, I'm reminded that our community is resilient, and we'll find ways to support each other, and our students, through this uncertainty.
