Conference attendees started filling up our room... and it was a big room! At 2:43, Sally and I made eye contact, mentally communicating, "Wow! We were not expecting so many people! How cool!" We took a breath and began. "Hi everyone, thanks for coming! We'll introduce ourselves, because we're not famous... yet!" I began.
Our presentation about using notebooks in reading workshop went off without a hitch. Sally and I balanced eachother as presenters very well. Our teaching stories demonstrate using reading notebooks with very different groups of students, but successfully in both scenarios. The teachers in attendance gave us positive feedback, hanging out afterwards to take pictures of our anchor charts and sample notebook pages.
It's easy to forget in the day-to-day of teaching that your work is important and valuable. It was nice to be reminded!
See Sally's post about our presentation here- she's slicing, too!
