I posted my daily content this morning. Just one day's worth of learning for my 7th and 8th grade students.
I kept it simple- a read aloud and two discussion posts.
A video message, so they could see my face.
I'm still here. I still care. I'm still encouraging them to read.
A quote from Donalyn Miller's Game Changers keeps running through my mind. "We can't control what students do outside of our classrooms, but we can encourage them."
After I posted my content, I waited. I took the dog for a walk. I did the dishes.
Sure enough, 3 students read and posted on my canvas page.
3 is not anywhere near all of my students... but 3 is some.
So I'll do the same thing again tomorrow, and maybe those 3 will come back. Or maybe tomorrow there will be 4.
